how can mistakes like this happen?

I phoned the travel agents today to find out when i would receive my tickets - travelling to hetta with transun on 30 December for 4 days - I was told tickets were in the post, then 3 hours later had a phone call informing me that even though i had paid for the holiday and got the invoice with the correct info on , there has been a mix up and we are not booked on this trip and it is now full. I have been offere a refund and asked how much compensation i would like as it was a computer error the wrong dates were entered by the tour operater. We are all very upset, this was my my 10 year olds xmas present and she is gutted. HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN?

Oh my goodness , im so sorry for you all what an awfull thing to happen. Sadly it doesnt suprise me tho Transun dont have a very good reputation. We travelled with them 30th November to the same place and it was a disaster of a trip. Alot of people have had complaints about Transun. Your poor child must be devastated.

Can you not find any other company that you could travel with.Think there is still availabilty on some sites for around those dates.

This is awfull, typical of transun they always over book. I would take there offer and book a new trip elsewhere. Make use of their mistake, that will teach them.



There are still enough places available.You can still go and still have a merry Christmas.

Can they do this? Ask them to come up with other options on the same date - Tell them you are getting on to the local papers/radio etc that might shake them up!! What rights do you have? What about ABTA? Consumer Affairs?





Personally Id take the money and run.. Check out a last minute deal with some of the other operators -Espirit are doing a deal at the moment - Most of them do last minute deals

oh my god, that%26#39;s terrible, there are some holidays still available, is there anything any of us can do? do you want us to help you find another trip etc? if you do let us know yoru dates, duration, costs etc

So sorry Bella to hear of this.



Call them tomorrow and tell them THEY need to find you an alternative with discount of course. I expect you%26#39;ve far to much on at the moment to have to now try and find another holiday.

The only other thing is to go elsewhere with another tour operator, but you will want your refund immediately no doubt, not wait until they decide to raise a cheque and post it out.





Am sure somebody on here may be able to advise. We are going with Inghams on Sunday for a week, but they do do shorter trips .... just not sure about availability. Cosmos, First Choice, Canterbury and Esprit come to mind too for suggestions.

it%26#39;s often the travel agents we book with that end up causing the aggrivation and upset. i know from personal experience. this time ive been told my tickets wont arrive at the travel agents in time before i leave so im none to impressed. it%26#39;s my first time traveling to lapland and i was really looking forward to it, but i keep worrying now.



anyway i really hope you manage to get it sorted!

Thanks for the sympathy everyone. it is my daughters 10th birthday today so we are all %26quot;putting on our happy faces%26quot;.



We actually booked the tickets through Santatrips who are a broker or something for lapland holidays, they have searched all other company%26#39;s (so they say) and there are no availabilities on these dates. As I am self employed I can%26#39;t just take any dates off ,I need to give 4 weeks notice.I am looking this morning for alternative trips it might have to be butlins (joke).



The thing that realy annoyed me was that the man who phoned me said he had just got a text from Hetta and there was little or no snow there a the moment and most of the snow activities were being cancelled and the children were being pulled around in sledges in the mud .WHEN I TOLD HIM THT i HAD SPOKEN TO SOMEONE WHO CAME BACK ON SUNDAY AND THERE IS LOADS OF SNOW HE APOLOGISED AND SAID HE HAD BEEN LAST WEEK AS WELL AND YES THERE WAS LOTS OF SNOW. PERHAPS HE WAS TRYING TO CHEER ME UP!

If you can arrange just the tickets from this Transun. and go to www.lentssons-suomunhelmi.com and see there new offer I am sure they can arrange something. i know that they are good and will do everything to get you a fab holiday.

Thank you for trying to help any help is realy much appreciated.We have been told that there are no seats available on any flights all they can offer is a later holiday when the children are back at school and we are back at work which is no good to us. . I have to phone them this morning to tell them what compensation figure I am looking at - they don%26#39;t seem to realise that money isn%26#39;t everything. How do we make up for there mistake to our daughter?
