just got back from saariselka

We returned from saariselka last night from our 3 day trip, we stayed in the holiday club hotel and we traveled with esprit. we had a great time loved every minute of the trip, but was a little disapointed in weather as it was colder in uk but there was snow every where so it was magical, we never see any snow fall it was snow which was a few days old but it was still lovely and we did make a little snow man on our last day. flight was good and at the airport was a reindeer and some naughty elfs which the children loved.the coach journey to hotel was about 20 mins and we sang xmas song, quickly got our outfits from warehouse on the way(which was done v quickly and ours all fitted great). on 1st night we had our meeting and had our evening meal ( HOPE YOU ALL LIKE SMOKED REINDEER SOUP AND GAME MEAT BALLS AMD MASH- Im not kidding) next morning off to activity centre WHICH WAS FAB!!!!! Could not fault it was brilliant , you could go on things as many times as you like and you never had to que for any thing for more than a few mins, you got your time slot for your dog ride but every thing else was at your own time and speeed, even lunch, you just went for it when you wanted ( lunch was nice lovely fish soup and spag bol for main and pancakes for sweet-no complaints at all) at the centre was a nice little cabin type thing which had tea and hot berry juice and biscuits and a log fire to keep u warm but as weather was so mild for time of year was never really cold. dogs was fantasic abit smelly LOL but friendly had a little time to fuss them and ride was excellent one of my fav things, and then there is the main man to talk about SANTA well that was abit unorganized , you had to go up to the rep who was at the area and ask when you could get a slot, you get told to come back in a hour or 20mins but we kept on being told to come back, 3 hours later we said we wanted to go soon as our coach was due in an hour and they fitted us in , it was just getting dark when we set off which made it really magical on the way there , lewis could see all presents on the ground leading to santas house he was so excited (the santas letter was given to driver and he must have past it all to the main man ) as we got closer we could hear the elves and then see them waving to us. SAnta him self was very beautiful and he looked so real, his outfit and beard was fantastic , we had about 5mins with him and never felt rushed he had the letter and was talking about the present lewis wanted the most , he spoke good english, we took lots of pictures and santa gave lewis his present, lewis was totally in shock and amazment, it was really lovely. gala night was good food better than night before , crackers and xmas music and the reps played with the children for a few hours given the parents a chance to un wind (the reps was really good with the kids). next day went in swimming pool and played out side in snow tobogging and building snow man then sadly back to airport, was given a pack lunch which was nice and sang songs on way home , hope i havent bored any one but wanted to tell you about our exprience .

Really glad you enjoyed your holiday! Like you last year we didn%26#39;t see any snow fall,well thats an excuse to go back!!

|||

Not boring at all, it%26#39;s lovely to read about everyone%26#39;s experience.

Glad you had a fab time. It will definitely give a boost to others who are going in the future.

|||

WOW can%26#39;t wait till our turn on sunday.

Was there a kettle in the room?

|||

Glad you had such a good time, from what you say it is just as we experienced it last year and can%26#39;t wait to be back in Saariselka on 30th for a whole week! In answer to Fayerfield above, there were no kettles in the hotel room last year so have packed a travel kettle, plug and hot choc and cup a soups to take but maybe that has changed. Perhaps Lewismummy can let us know. Also am I right in remembering that you got towels for the swimmimg pool from reception? Really don%26#39;t want to have to pack swimming towels if at all possible.

|||

someone else who got back a few days ago said you don,t need towels but take flip-flops and gowns for the kids. I,ve got my travel kettle cups etc ready. Bought the box of wine, take it there are glasses as there is a mini bar?

|||

Hi again fayerfield, There were certainly at least a couple of tumbler type glasses in the room last year, don%26#39;t recall anything more suitable for drinking wine, perhaps you%26#39;d be best take a couple of plastic wine glasses!

|||

yes there was travel kettle in room and would not bother taking towels as they provide bathrobe for adults which everyone wore back from the pool, would take light pair of flip flops because people were walking back barefooted or with there own shoes on, i did have 3 bathrobes in my room so lewis had one but dont think they provide them for children as a rule, i did take beach towels for pool but never used them. i did not notice a mini bar but there was paper cups and glasses in bathroom, it is REALLY hot in the hotel rooms so take thin night clothes and take a t shirt for walking around the hotel in.

let me no how u all got on , hope you have a fab time

|||

Thanks for all your info. Just a couple more questions!

when do your give the snow gear back?

how warm did you find the pool?

on your first night was there the usual nuggets for the kids?

sorry to keep on

on the morning of your last day the coach picks you up 12 to go back to gatwick so after playing in snow in morning, we went back to hotel put on normal gear and put hire stuff in white plastic bags which they was given to us in and they was loaded on coach with our cases and droped off to hire place on way back to airport, we just had are normal clothes on plus are coats we wore traveling in we was fine, its not that cold at moment at all. pool was fine not cold at all, there was loads of nuggets at gala night but not on 1st night, there was chips , but wasnt brillant to be honest, im not what i would call a fussy eater but i ate the salad bread rolls and a little mash and one meat ball on ist night but food got better on gala and at the activity day. you can ask me as many questions as you like fire away
