hi been looking at peoples comments on yllas and not sure which side of the %26quot;tunturi%26quot; would suit us best, we will have a 3 and 7 year children and need facilities to cater for them ie supermarket, excursions etc. does anyone know if there is a supermarket in either and how far are the two villages from each other and are they easily accesable to each other if not to far apart.
we went to levi this year and it had everything that you would need for small children like a chemist and doctor in emergency and the daily activities at kidsland. we like to try and visit different resorts but may go to levi again to be on the safe side. any 1st hand experiance would be appreciaited.

Yllasjarvi is still quite a small resort, with quite a lot development going on at the moment, including the Gondola, supermarket, cabins an chalets. This side will be potentially better for ski-ing with the gondola being on this side. The childrens area is also good with a sledging area. There is safari houses for trips. Yllasjarvi is in the mold of Levi but is a lot smaller.
Akaslompolo is away from the ski splopes, but only a short bus ride from the slope, the bus also goes around to Yllasjarvi, it takes about 10-15mins. Akaslompolo has a more traditional lappish feel than Levi, it is more spread out than Levi, we normally get around on a kick sledge. There is plenty of things to do for children, Lapp Village, nature reserve and petting farms. Lots of safari houses and lots of trips to take.
It all depends what you want to do whilst you are there to which side would suit you best.

Im struggling with this too which side to choose.. There seems to be more for kids on ths Akaslompolo side....Decisions Decisions!!!

The supermarket in Akaslompolo is on this link http://www.jouninkauppa.com/showpage.php?id=2 and the website www.yllas.fi has useful links to safari companies, restaurants etc. The lapp village in A. has kids snowmobiles, a santa, huskys etc.

If you are travelling with Inghams and staying in a Yllas Log Cabin you will be staying in Akaslompolo.
If not tell me where you are stsying and I%26#39;ll tell you where it is.

TB gave a good description on differences between
Akaslompolo and Yllasjarvi.
I%26#39;d choose Akaslompolo and visit by bus the
other side if needed but once you%26#39;re there
you won%26#39;t propably long for other places within a week.
