Please.....Help me choose the right resort.
So far I have Levi-Salla-yylas.
I will be taking my 13 year old-9-year old and 7 year old.
Now for questions-What I would like out of a holiday.
We have never done the ski before but would love to learn-It will be our first ever winters holiday in the snow.
I would like somewhere not to quiet but still has a cosy atmosphere- nightlife is a no no.
I would also love to do al the husky-riendeer-snowmobiles that are on offer.Even more if my finances will allow me.
The price is a big factor for me to consider aswell.
Where would suit my family and I best.
Thankyou all in advance.

The best deals i have found are to Yylas with Cruytal - they are giving away free child places so will free up some money for the trips you want to do.
I have been to Levi and think its fantastic loads to do and bars if you want - and if you dont want its also quiet . most of the cabins are set away from the village so its peaceful.
Thinking of goint to Yylas in Feb - so then i will be able to compare the two.
I dont think anywhere in Lapland is the wrong choice and you will have a great time wherever you go.

Hi there, we have done both Yllas and Levi but we prefer Yllas, but there is more going on for teens in Levi, Yllas is a lot quieter, and things a lot more spread out, as for skiing love both of them, but Levi is a bit more sheltered, you can sometimes feel the cold more in Yllas as its more exposed,so wrap up warm on the drag lifts lol, both have excellent facilities and offer loads of excursions, either one you choose you%26#39;ll have a fantastic time

All offer all the excursions you want -Yllas is more traditional quiet and rural where Levi is more of a skiing resort, however the piste is on your doorstep and you will find shops and more restaurants.
My choice would be based on cost-go to the cheapest!

Hi...Thankyou all for your replies.
Surely there must be someone that has been to the salla cabins that could tell me a little bit about the area?
It seems to me that regardless of which resort I choose I wil be able to book husky-riendeer-etc in each of the resorts?
Well so far I have decided that yylas would suit our family better as we are not very keen on staying where there will be lots of shops and bars and would like to stay in a rural tradtional area.My children are still young.
So if you can tell me a little more about the resort of salla I would really love to hear from you.
Thankyou all.

Have you looked on the Salla forum for any info, there is not much on there mind.
Levi is great and has everything there but is more like a ski resort but you can opt to stay in a cabin and be away from the bars and restuarants.Think Yllas may suit you if you are looking for a quieter tradtional resort.

Just a thought but if you are looking for somewhere quite and still a little traditional with cabins dotted around the woods then the Immelmokit cabins are lovely and located lovely and peacefull.

HiTT.
I think if you have decide on Yllas, you have made a good choice, Lapland though seems to be lovely wherever you go, but Yllas is especially nice.
last year if you stayed in the Yllas cabins with Inghams, you had the option of free xcountry skis, watch out for the excursions though, certainly if you want to snowmobile, going on the organised thing will use up a lot of readies, about 70E each for 2to3 hours, far better to hire them yourselves, because as I%26#39;ve said in previous posts, an excursion is per person, hiring one yourselves is per machine, about 130E per day, 9/5pm.
Don%26#39;t worry about them being difficult to drive, if you ever rode a motorbike, you will find snowmobiles very similar, but like riding a bike remember to lean the right way when cornering, or if the trail is sloping to your left or right.
Nice place to eat is Jullis pizza restaurant, really good, www.jullis.com

We spent New Year in Salla, and really enjoyed it. Its perfect for families and first-time skiers - quiet and friendly. The trips are expensive, we only went on one, which was a skidoo safari to a reindeer farm. This was a good trip, a bit different and fun, and it felt authentic as the farm was run by the parents of the guy who took us out on the skidoos - but cost us about £50 each.
Our cabin was cosy and well equipped, the area was beautiful and we saw the Northern Lights - the best free extravaganza ever!
We%26#39;d recommend the Keile (?) restaurant and bar just by the cabins (on the other side of the road from the hotel)- lovely staff and great food, including reindeer steaks!
