cross the arctic circle experience

6 days to go.

My son has come home from school after talking to mates who have just returned from lapland.

He seemed impressed that they got a certificate fronm santa for crossing the arctic circle.

Anyone know if you can arrange this locally somehow

Thanks

Col

hi,

myself and my family came back from lapland last week, we all got certifcates for crossing the artic circle, we stayed at pallas which is further north than yllas, we went with first choice and got our certifcate on the last day,but we done the crossing on the day we went on the husky rides,

hope this helps abit shirley

The only thing if you%26#39;re staying in Yllas is that you%26#39;re already a fair way over the Arctic circle (about 200km north of it) - so you%26#39;ll have a long journey if you want to physically walk across it (although you%26#39;ll obviously cross it in the aeroplane).

We had a %26quot;traditional crossing ceremony%26quot; as part of our trip (was actually very good, and the kids loved it), where everyone got told traditional stories and then had charcoal from the fire rubbed on their faces (apparently a local sign of good luck). Everyone then got given a certificate. Not sure whether this sort of thing could be arranged locally, but might be worth checking on yllas.fi

Sorry, forgot to say - we were staying in Yllas, but don%26#39;t know whether the ceremony we went to can be booked separately, hence why I was suggesting looking at yllas.fi
