I doubt you will get them with the hire stuff and I don%26#39;t think they are a must, they certainly help protect your eyes from the cold and wind and I would have thought if you were doing stuff such as the husky rides that the tour ops will give you them whilst on the rides etc

We took them but didn%26#39;t wear them. There was only one day when we could have used them and that was when it was snowing hard and we were skiing - the snow hurts your eyes when you are going fast(ish!).
If you think you will need some, buy some cheap ones in the uk (the husky trips etc do not give them out but snowmobiling trips issue helmets with visors). Do not get dark tinted ones, get goggles for low light conditions (amber).

Hello
We came back last Sunday with our 6 1/2 and 4/1/2 year old children and my advice would be that goggles are useful. We did not wear them but the children did - not every day but on the days it was snowing because as they were being pulled in the sledge/tobogganing/ski-ing the snow was going in their eyes and was particularly bad if there was a wind.
I think it%26#39;s best to cover all eventualities with children rather than have them complaining!

Hi
I would advise taking goggles and sun glasses. We%26#39;re going to Finland for the first time but have been skiing before and my experience is that if you wear no eye protection, you get the glare coming back off the snow just like you do off the pool or sea on summer hols.
Also, agreeing with others, you do need them for the snow or wind because it does hurt!
I%26#39;ve tended to wear glasses if it%26#39;s not windy but once the wind picks up or it snows, put the goggles on. Also, if it%26#39;s freezing, it%26#39;s a bit more protectionto keep your face warm!!
Have a good time

Wouldn%26#39;t worry about sun-glassess - only a couple of hours grey light. The sun is not actually rising or setting at the moment.
