HELLLPPP! Booking xmas in lapland tomorrow! Any advice?

I know it%26#39;s last minute but I have only just worn my husband down enough to let us go to Lapland!

Going to book tomorrow to go on 23rd dec from manchester.

But I still can%26#39;t decide where or which itinery to go on.

Transun seem to have it all going on and the most included but I%26#39;m not sure about the hotels or resorts. i know they are new for this season.

justantupa Hotel and Hetta Matalejo on Encounter break. davvi Hotel on Legends

Otherwise it%26#39;s Cosmos. Sariselka tunturi hotel, yllas, yllasrinne hotel and levi levistar apts.

Has anyone been to any? My husband will kill me if I get it wrong!!!!

Am favouring Davvi Hotel at moment. Don%26#39;t fancy commercialised lapland. Would prefer more traditional. Have 5 year old and want it to be special for her really.

Would welcome any advice as don%26#39;t have much time and you old hands have been at it for months!!!!!

hi to you chezziebabes

my advice is to is stay away from companys like cosmos and firstchoice they are the most naff of companys to travel to lapland with.yllasrinne hotel is run down and old and overcrowded as are the levistar apartments.stick to a decent company and get the most out of a holiday to lapland.i would choose the davvi hotel or hetta matalejo with another company and visit the uncommercialised lapland.better still arrange your own travel.

Thanks for that.

You have summed up what I suspected!

I am afraid of booking independantly as it is our first time to Lapland and only 3 weeks to go!

Transun look like the best bet as the other more specialist operators are sold out now.

Thanks again!!

check out the transun thread before you book just to get a bit of feed back

I would suggest that you wait until some other posters come along before you book as many have some very fine advice

how long are you looking to go for and what is your budget?

|||

have you checked out santadays who do the santartic from manchester, staying in Saariselka

also have you thought of calling inghams to see if they have any of their short breaks available, the excussions are not included but can be booked with them

Goldfinger....wanted to know more abot levistar apartments as I have booked to go there for New Year!! Now I think I may regret it!!! Have stayed in Yllas-akaslompolo before and loved it! will Levi be too busy for me????

Hello, Stayed in Saariselka with Esprit last year who delivered exactly what it said in the brochure. We were at the holiday club, not the Tunturi so can%26#39;t comment on that. Saariselka is far North, small and not very commercialised but at the same time has all the activities, a few gift shops and a supermarket. We are returning there for a week over New year so that says it all. Booked with Inghams this time, not so impressed, airport/flight times changed , but with a late booking presume this wouldn%26#39;t happen. Click on my earthtravelller name and find more detailed reviews of Saariselka.

you will love Lapland

Hi

Following on from what earthtraveller said about esprit i ahve to agree they are very good we went skiing in Austria last year over xmas and had a wonderful time the staff could not have been mnore helpful.

If you haven%26#39;t booked yet have at look at the late offers on the following link.

Hope you enjoy your holiday whoever you book with.

just returned from a day trip with transun , would never book with them again. Totally disorganised company , lots of people have complained and transun has admitted they had teething problems , but not alot of good after the event!

Have to disagree with sunshinelincs, although my experience was a 3 day trip. We had a great time - staying at the Davvi hotel - and loved every minute of it.

We booked with first choice every thing was very well organised. All the trips we did were accompanied by the elves. Although expensive but def worth the money for peace of mind.
