husky & reindeer safaries in Rovaniemi

Hello,

we will be in Rovaniemi before Xmas for 2.5 days.

There are 3 people - my mom, 60 years old, me 40 years old, and my daughter 15 years old. Because of age difference everybody has own expectations from this trip. The only safaries we all agreed on are husky %26amp; reindeer safaries.

In search of the safaries, I reviewed this great forum postings as well www.rovaniemi.fi

The site lists several tour operators; they have similar pricing and could not sense the difference between them.

I liked 3,5 hour programs ( husky %26amp; reindeer safaries ) by

Lapland Vip Tour (http://www.laplandviptour.fi)

I also liked Arctic Safaris Rovaniemi (www.arcticsafaris.fi), but they are little bit more expensive. For example, they change 114 Euro for 2 hours vs 104 for 3 hours by Lapland Vip Tour...

Any advice? Did somebody used Lapland Vip Tour?

Hi Daniel.

I have to say I%26#39;ve only been to Rova on day trips, as we normally stay further north in Yllas so I can%26#39;t give you any specific info, but if you have the chance do hire snowmbiles, you will certainly also find it far better to hire them yourselves rather than go on a excursion, it will be much cheaper as well as more enjoyable, last year my daughter and I hired one, she is also 15, it was the most wonderful experience we have ever had, it was the morning after a heavy snowfall, the snow was pristine and with a blue sky as well, some of our photos were stunning, but to be out on the fells in those conditions, well, I can%26#39;t explain what it felt like, but once you have been you will know what I mean.

You might find though that like many of us on this forum, you cannot go just once, you will be drawn back again, it%26#39;s that kind of place, especially the further north you go.

Hi Sanfran,

Did you look at www.safartica.com, they are very good and can make to a tailor made safarie, they are not so big as the rest so you will have a good safarie.Also Lapland Safaries are also good.

But i can recomend Safartica any day.

I have booked a husky and reindeer safarie in Rovaniemi for two adults one child with Erasetti its for three hours and not a bad price. Pick up from hotel and get to ride on sledge pulled by reindeer to a husky farm and feed the huskys. I have booked this on a freinds recommendation that goes every year to Lapland but not not book on a sat or sun as they are very busy more personalised on a week day hope this helps

We are in Rovaniemi now.

Today we went on raindeer farm and ice fishing with Lapland Vip Tour (http://www.laplandviptour.fi).

It was fun! Raindeers are sooo nice animals..

I also cought 2 small fishes within minutes of our ice fishing trip.

But where is snow? It is not enough!

There are lot of snow in Levi and Ylläs area (about 40-50 cm).

In Rovaniemi they have had problem with snow for many years in December.

just back from rovaniemi, boked with erasetti safaris for reindeer to husky farm 115 euros for adult well worth it made our trip
