Hoorayyyyyyy!!!! Just booked Yllas - Snow Princess Hotel for the four of us for February half term. Thank you for all the advice from EVERYONE! I think we were swayed by it being a more Finish experience in Yllas than Levi. We are not going for the Ski-ing, more the winter/snow experience and there seems lots in Yllas without it being too commercialised. Looking at Yllas.Fi it says there are buses to Levi for a visit if we want to. Hotel looks nice, and First Choice chuck in the warm clothing package for £15 a head which is cheaper than buying it all for the four of us. So I am a happy Bunny! Any more feedback from the area or hotel would be super. I am now just so excited. I have wanted to do this all my life, and now I%26#39;m going to!
FAB!!! :o) xxxx

Oh you lucky thing!!
We want to go for Feb half term to, but waiting for a cheap deal of last minute.com.
At the moment they only have Ruka but hoping a few more will come on!
One things for sure you will not have to worry about the snow!!

Congratulations looking forward to your review of Yllas!!

Oh, Bluny, I wasnt brave enought to wait for last minute deals!!! Once I found out if was the finish school holiday too, the accommodation worrid me as much as the flight availability! As it was, we could only find flights from Manchester. Being down here in Somerset, that wasnt ideal, but a small price to pay for the hols of my dreams. Also just took out some annual insurance with Tesco as am sick of faffing with insurance every time we book a holiday. This isnt always straight forward as my daughter has asthma, I recently had a nasty op on my sinuses and hubby is in remission from cancer, so insurance people hate us! Still it was an ok deal so we are now all paid up and ready to go! Soooo excited!

Oh no dont blame you for booking through a company we always do to be sure that we get what we want and the dates we want as we always book early.
We are only hoping to get a booking as a extra for Feb and if we can get a cheap deal for then we shall go if not we shall have to wait for new year next year which we have booked already.
Really exciting for you all now bet you cant wait!

Hi C.
Just thought of something which may be of help to you,I remember talking to a guy in the hotel one evening in Akaslompolo, he explained to me that he also suffered from asthma, what he said kinda made sense to me as my daughter used to have very mild asthma, which happily she grew out of, well the gist of the conversation was that he said he had never felt as well as he did in lapland, and wished he could live there, he thought it was because the air was so clean and dry,I hope this will help.
DO try the snowmobiles!!! imagine driving up through a snowy forest, which after dark is soooo fantastic, the headlights pick out all the trees covered in snow, unbelieveable isn%26#39;t the word, magical is nearer to the truth, but even that cannot describe it fully, but, you will know what I mean when you arrive, you will fall under the spell, just like most of us on here, nowhere else comes close!!!!
DO, try to get to Jullis in Akaslompolo, you will taste the best pizzas you have ever had.
But, if you are lucky, and see the Northern Lights, you won%26#39;t want to go home, but if you do you will be planning your next visit, I guarantee it.

Hey Bluny we will see you there if you get a good deal! My sis booked last year herself doing all bits and pieces. I would just be so nervous though. As we have booked a package the agent is responsible for us, getting us there and back. My sister flew to Helsinki with connecting flights, pre booked transfer taxis and independent accommodation. Just imagine if somewhere along the line this had all gone wrong...
However, last summer we went to the maldives. Once again booked a package and thank god... On our last night a tropical storm came in. We were lucky enough to get to the airport for our flights, then we sat on the tarmac waiting for a couple who were coming in on another seaplane from the outer islands. This was obviously delayed by the weather, but because they had booked a package, the carrier had to wait for them. Others coming from elsewhere who had booked independently had tough watsits, the carrier had no obligation to wait for them atall, and once the package customers were on, the plane was off back to the UK. Just think for the bit extra it costs that First Choice now have that obligation for me. Should there be a terrible blizzard and our transfers are delayed getting back to the airport, the carrier has to wait or provide an alternative. I%26#39;m Mrs Safe - like to know im being looked after!
Still so excited...xxxx

Trev, thank you for that. My daughter is only very mildly asmathic. Dont even like using the word. have convinced myself its just a silly label for snotty and coughs alot!!!
The air was very clear and pure like that when hubby and I went to Iceland. The deep snow in northern iceland was almost blue, it was so pure. None of the yellowy polluted rubbish we get here, if we are lucky that is!
This is such a dream holiday for us. We have done most on our tick list over the last two years now - all those holidays you would love to do but put them on a list to do...ONE DAY... You know the kind.
Think the last on our list is Churchill to see the Polar Bears, but that is such a small window every year when you have the chance to see them come into the town, which doesnt fit in with school hols. Inconsiderate bears, eh?! So whilst the kids are still young, and I work in a primary school those bears will have to wait.
Done the florida thing, maldives, Iceland, Paris and eiffel tower on valentines day, oh and balloon trip over local area here, so most boxes ticked now. Just finland to go... Whoooooeeeee. Then what? Any suggestions?

You will love it, Snow princess Hotel is near to the safari houses and the Lappi Village.
There is plenty of nice walks in that location.
I%26#39;m so jealous we can%26#39;t go out this winter, roll on July and New Year 2008/9.

Ooooo, tb, tell me more about the lappi village? Is it good? Worth a visit? What%26#39;s there? What about the safari park? Native animals I guess? Once again, worth a visit?
Feel as if I have sat here all day looking at pics on line and reading lots of info. Dont think i will sleep tonight for excitement!
