message for chunkymonkey 53 and others re airport strikes

Just heard that the proposed airport strikes are the 7th and 14th Jan from 6am so those of us going away for new year have had a narrow escape as we return on the 6th. Feel sorry for anyone caught up in it who is going during Jan and also for chunkymonkey53 as they are returning to Scotland on the 7th having already changed their internal flight due to Inghams change of flight times!

Thanks---breathes sigh of relief!

am travelling on the 27th Dec!

Agree. Massive relief for us as leaving on the 30th from Gatwick. Wouldnt have minded getting stuck there though.....

Hi laplandbound

Which flight are you on from Gatwick on 30th? We fly at 8 am from Gatwick , going on to Saariselka (going with Inghams). maybe see you at airport or resort?

Hi Earthtravelller and others,

It%26#39;s becoming a nightmare. After rearranging flights to travel back to Scotland on the Monday morning and also extra holidays after Inghams advised that the flight times had to be changed as they didn%26#39;t have enough bookings on the original flights, we have now had to book train seats from London Euston on the Monday morning.

BA advised that they would get us on the first available flight, but this might be Tuesday afternoon or evening and we just can%26#39;t take any more holidays from work. They will only refund a total of £64, so we have lost out big time, because of Inghams cocking up our return.

Our frinds in Aberdeen are in worse position than us, as one of them is a Headteacher and has to be back on the Monday morning regardless. Not sure what%26#39;s going to happen.

Inghams are an absolute joke. I%26#39;m feeling a bit jinxed at the moment!!

We need to meet up at Gatwick to say hello. We are a party of 4, 30 to 40 somethings (I%26#39;m the youngest!).

Hopefully this will not put a dent in the holiday, and that the temperatures in Saariselka drops a wee bit, as it has been a lot colder in Glasgow in the last week.

Hello again chunkymonkey53

What a nightmare the travelling is turning out to be for you, you will be exhausted by the time you get back to Scotland. It is bad enough having the 2 1/2 hour journey back to the airport in Finland instead of 20 mins and we shall have to plough on home to Gloucester from Gatwick arriving in the wee small hours and daughters back into school on the Monday morning holding their eyes open with matchsticks! Fortunately at the moment I am supply teaching so have made sure I am not available on the Monday! Hopefully we shall have a lovely week there and as you say hope it turns colder, even here in the South it has been colder than Lapland this week, one day it didn%26#39;t get above minus 3. Had a friend who went on a day trip on 20th last week and was disappointed by the snow levels, much had melted and what was left was icy

Will definitely look out for you at airport, we are a 40 plus 10 ish (!)couple with daughters aged 17 and 12. Will have to carry a placard saying earthtravelller, no doubt I will find out who you are by the accent! It will be good to meet after chatting on here for so long.
