Got back from Levi on dec 23rd with very mixed feelings about the whole lapland experience which properbly was%26#39;nt helped by the lack of fresh snow and ever increasing icey conditions.
Firstly the Immelmokit cabins were really great, they are really big, very well equipped and in a really lovely location, ours was in front of a frozen lake which the kids cleared the snow off and used for skating on(with skates pinched from kids land i hate to admit but we did return them before we left)There is not much to do in the evening if you have small kids apart from going out to eat and kids playroom in the levitunturi is open till ten as well, i found it so boring that we went out and bought a dvd player so we could watch movies we had brought from home(the cabins did%26#39;nt have dvd player obviously)but the kids were very happy to just play out in the snow clearing there ice skating rink and building a snowman family including a dog which i hope is still standing as it took them ages digging the snow up.
I booked a father christmas to visit us in our cabin and he was amazing he came up the road on his reindeer driven sledge and the look on my six year olds face when he opened up the door to father christmas was priceless, when i asked him who was at the door he was nearly crying and it took him about 60 seconds to croak out mummy it%26#39;s father christmas it%26#39;s really father christmas at our door mummy. got to be the best 100 or so quid i have ever spent, he came in and sat down with the kids told them all the things they asked for, for christmas and after getting the ok from us that we had them told them they had been so good they would be getting the lot, it was so real that i think even my 12 year old started to believe maybe just maybe this was the real deal.
we did the search for santa trip with aurora which was also brilliant just not so personnel and we did the husky ride which was so funny, we got the naughty thick dogs, at first they refused to go and when they did about half way round they decided to go the other way to everyone else and then wrapped themselves round a tree about 5 times of course i blamed the other half who was driving and muttered bloody men drivers for about 5 minutes.
Food was good in cantina, tango and also the median pizza place if you don%26#39;t like sauce on your food just ask for everything without as they are fond of putting sauce on everything, the burger bar in the levitunturi was also good and for the first time ever i cooked on holiday the kids wanted something normal and english so of course i did a spag bol lol very english, the supermarket is very well stocked and has loads and the alko store (love the name)next door has almost every alcoholic drink you could want and it is%26#39;nt expensive i was buying a lovely rose cava and it was cheaper than buying it in spain where it is made, also bought fresh supplies of bacardi of course and that was about £13 a bottle, the only thing i thought was expensive was if you want a bottle of wine if you eat out the average price for that was about 40 euros so we had the local beer instead which was very good.
The Inghams gala dinner was rubbish the food i mean i had an absolute laugh as shell was there and i put out an announcement to wish her a very happy 40th birthday and to say the botox was working a treat as she did%26#39;nt look a day over 40 (she is 31)love from the widget, her face was a picture very funny, got to meet all her family and they are lovely all of them i even thought the outlaws were nice, her little boy went up with 2 of mine to meet father christmas who was amazingly the same one that came to our cabin.
All in all a great holiday i will just take some books to read next time and defo try skiing i could%26#39;nt this time as shell made me climb up a big pile of snow to sledge down it so she could take a piccie to post on here and i fell over and hurt my wrist(and get this she said i did%26#39;nt get that can you do it again) we also could%26#39;nt hire out snowmobiles on our own which we wanted to as the snowmobile tracks were a bit melty and the frozen lake were a bit dodgy. The finnish people were all amazingly friendly but i expected that after talking to pera and others on here must admit towards the end of the week the very icey conditions were a bit of a downer could%26#39;nt get on the sleding run or up to kidsland as it was just to slippy to get up with a 2 year old.
I am looking forward to going again next year and allready keeping my fingers crossed for loads and loads of snow

Kelly would you stay in a log cabin next time or a hotel?
Im thinking in a hotel there might be more to do in the evenings, mine will be 12 and 14, I dont want to be bored!

my two eldest that came were that age and loved sledging about all over the place outside the cabins, i would%26#39;nt even think of staying in a hotel the cabins are lovely and make it a winterwonderland holiday.

i was only bored as i hurt my wrist and could%26#39;nt go out to play and everyone else was and i was all on my onesies.

Oh I see, I just said to my OH do you think we will get bored and he said no, skiing will tire us out, he wants to go to yllas!
He didnt want to go at all last week!!
He was sneaking a look in the brochure while I was having a lie in this morning, and he just showed me the one he likes, villa armas, are they ok?

Bored!!!
We are to tired to get bored in the evenings.We are out all day from morning till around 7pm in the evenings and are exuasted through skiing and doing all other activities.
The best bit for me is returning to the cabin,taking a sauna,shower then relaxing and then having a beer!
Kelly once you get on those skis next year you will feel different!

You will expecially after you have lugged all your ski etc up to kids land!!
