So, who is going to be in Lapland for Xmas/New Year then?

I come to this forum nearly every day waiting for some new threads or posts, I know that come december it will heat up a bit but I am still so excited, it%26#39;s been 6 months since I booked and just under 6 months before we go, so come on everyone lets have a big powwow and chat about how stupidly excited we are (for the children that is) and who is going and when, and perhaps we can all meet up for a snow ball fight ?

So, we are going on the 23rd Dec flying from Bristol, staying in the Yllas Log cabins, me, partner and 2 children (7 and 10 year old)

anyone else?

Hi Sara,

Like me you just can%26#39;t resist visiting this page it%26#39;s magnetic attraction draws you once or even twice a day! Pity we are not going to meet each other having communicated so much on site as you leave the day we arrive. Think about Lapland a the time, never had this with planning summer type Holiday!!

For everyone else out there We are first timers and will be a party of 8 flying from Birmingham 30th Dec for 1 week, all Manchester flights were gone by the time I took the plunge %26amp; booked with Inghams, my own fault for dithering. Staying at the Villa Armas cabins in Akaslompolo chose this resort %26amp; accomodation especially after brilliant posts from Dilly2 (trev) and Learnerskier (vivienne) and not forgetting all the other excellent replies from the other numerous members who offered other advice to me as well (yes including you too poe.tuesday Sara).

Hi Sara,

we are going to The Snow Elf on the 26th December and I too am getting excited now. (just for my daughter of course! )

Got to say I just love this forum because everybody is SOOOO helpful and nice and if these are the sort of folks who go to Lapland, then it will be really nice, dont you think?

I am currently trying to locate my paperwork for the trip as I have filed it %26quot;somewhere safe%26quot; so at the moment I cant remember what trips I have got booked, if any knowing me :-( but I really want to sort out a Santa trip, again only for the daughter you see.........

Tick Tock,

Chelle

I%26#39;m completely new to this whole forum thing but I am quickly beginning to realise I am going to get addicted to this one as Christmas approaches. We are booked to spend Christmas (23rd-27th) in Muonio at a log cabin at Hotel Jeris. Anyone else out there been to this location previously??

We are really excited about taking the 2 %26quot;children%26quot;, slight difference though..................... they are 24 and 22!!! They know we are booking to go away at Christmas but we are doing just as we would if they were small and keeping the location a secret until the last minute. That will probably have to be a couple of days before to prevent my daughter packing all her bikinis, tiny tops and high heels!!!!

I have the webcam watching the road conditions in that area saved as a favourite on my computer already, though at present just busy trying to spot cars!

Has anyone else taken younger/older teenagers out there with them? If so how did they get on and how did you all manage in a log cabin??

Hi

|||

Hi , travelling to florida this fri for two weeks then to lapland on the 17th dec for 3 days not sure of where my paperwork is also filed away somewhere safe? but will return to this forum after hols.

I know exactly what you mean - I have booked many holidays before and I can safely say I have never been this excited!!!! My husband reckons that Im becoming obsessed!!! When do the Ski suits go on sale??? We have decided to go a week before Christmas - Felt it would be too difficult to transport %26#39;special pressies%26#39; that would be needed! So I plan to have all the christmas shopping done in September so I can be ready!!! We are not telling the kids; just going to bring them to the airport and then we are travelling by train to Levi - of course this has now become the Polar express!!! Ohh the excitement...

|||

start getting your ski stuff now if you want good deals, I got mine all off ebay in march just gone, I was getting fab ski suits for the children from £10 to £20 each

and for those of you who want to take food out with you for xmas dinner etc, you can take out meat products etc

Hi

I have booked our first trip to Lapland for this xmas. We are flying with Finnair to Kittila from manchester on the 21st December with our 6 and 10 year boys. The 6 year old will celebrate his birthday on the 24th and so this will be especially magical I hope. We are stopping at a Yllas Log Cabin until the 26th December. Always wanted to go away at christmas and as the 10 year old still believed in Father xmas last year, have thought that this will probably be the best time to go as I dont think he will still believe when he starts high school. Keep getting exited everytime I think about this trip (especially as I think we are going to keep it as a surprise for the kiddies). I have only booked the flights and accomodation and nothing else. So hope to concentrate on hiring thermal suits, trips and maybe somewhere to eat out on xmas day if possible,when the school holidays have finished. Any advice etc most welcome.

|||

we will also be there at that time, I have got a 7 and 10 year old so I am planning in trying to get all the tripadvisor people who will be in Yllas over xmas to have a snowball fight, it will be fab ;-)

as for the thermals and snow wear, we have bought everything already, got the lot off ebay

hope to see you there
