On the webcams today, particularly the road akaslompolo one, there was snow falling quite heavily and yet on the other cams(slopes, hotel etc) there was no sign. Does anyone know whats going on with snow fall? Is anyone reading this from Yllas or nearby who can tell me please.... Is it snowing???

Check out on neilson ski as there is info on there about ski slopes etc being open and whats not open.

Just read on the Neilson forum that someone has just returned from Yllas and said the resort is very disappointing with hardly any of the runs open. They spent the whole week skiing 3/4 short runs.
How disappointing.

Yes I did read that on there website.
Alot can change over the next couple of weeks and we have had the same happen in Levi before.
Its still early so would keep checking on here for the latest lot to arrive back to give you some upto date info.

Just returned from Akaslompolo today, and when we left at 11.00am there definately was not any snow falling, nor did any fall whilst we were waiting at Kittila airport. I know this as you have to walk to the plane. I checked the road webcam for Akaslompolo the night before we left (thurs 20th) and it showed snow for between 3-4 hours, but when we arrived the following afternoon there had not been any new snow for nearly a week. So dont really know what is going on.

Well it was definately snowing on there webcam this afternoon between 3-5pm.
Did you enjoy your holiday and did you like akaslompolo?

Yes Bluny, we had a fantastic time. All the recommendations of things to do and see and places to eat which I gathered from this forum really made the difference. We enjoyed everything, and had some fantastic meals and experiences. It only snowed for just over an hour whilst we were snowmobiling on xmas day though, so unfortunately the boys didnt build a snowman or do a snow ball fight as it was too icy. But really cant complain at all. The weather was very mild for this time of year, and so no problems with staying out all day long. Cabin was high spec and in a lovely location, and everything that I had pre arranged by email all worked out as planned. Very tempted to go again next year, especially as the kiddies will probably still fit in all their gear, and more importantly we spent more quality time together as a family instead of me being in the kitchen catering for all and sundry.
