Weather in Helsinki - January

Hi,

I would be in Helsinki in January 08.

Could you please advise me on clothing I should carry...and what about shoes

Janyary is tricky. It can be anything between +5 Celsius and pouring rain or -35 Celsius and gale force. Just now it seems to be on the warm and rainy side, but it can change very fast. Separate layers with somethin water- and windproof on top is always wise. Warm hikers with Goretex will work nearly always.

Kumiankka is right, it can be almost anything...

If you check www.ilmatieteenlaitos.fi, there is a map of finland, under it, select helsinki (if nothing happens, select some other town and after that helsinki again), you´ll see a pretty reliable 5 day forecast.

Sunday, 6th of January looks like -5 celsius with semi serious wind. Meaning you need a proper winter coat, a warm sweater and warm pants. Pack a scarf, I wear a large one that I bought in Bangalore =) It´s very multi purpose.
