On the spur of the moment (can%26#39;t believe I%26#39;ve just done this!!) I%26#39;ve booked a 4 day trip to the Holiday Club at Saariskala leaving this Sunday.
It says that thermal clothes and boots are included but my question is - what else do I have to take? I have done absolutely no forward planning into this whatsoever so haven%26#39;t got a clue. All help gratefully received!!
PS I haven%26#39;t even got the kids passports yet - have an appointment for an emergency 4 hour passport tomorrow morning!!

Oh wow that%26#39;s so exciting for you; at least you haven%26#39;t had the loooonnnggggg countdown that some of us here have had! We%26#39;re also off to Saariselka on Sunday but have never been before; there will be plenty of advice coming from the pros, I%26#39;m sure!

Well done. I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;kll have a wonderful time.
Take a look at poes website at http://lapland.fruitbandit.com/ for some good advice on clothes and other things.
Good luck with the passports.

I would certainly get some warm ski gloves, scarf and thick socks, layers are the key to warmth -thermal if possible!
If you take a camera it would be wise to keep it near your body as the cold zaps the battery power! lots of money is useful!
Was wondering which tour company you booked with?
You will not regret the decision to go!

Hi - thanks for your replies and helfpul information. Its with Esprit and we got a fantastic deal which just seemed too good to pass up. (that%26#39;s what i%26#39;m telling myself anyway!) I%26#39;ve done no work today whatsover - just spent the whole afternoon booking the dogs into kennels, booking carparking and a hotel for Saturday night etc. (and reading this forum of course!).
It%26#39;s my daughter%26#39;s birthday on Christmas Eve as well which will be extra special for her. I%26#39;m just wondering whether parents will be taking out children%26#39;s christmas presents with them as well - I don%26#39;t want my kids to feel hard done by, equally the things I have bought them weren%26#39;t exactly bought with travel in mind.
I am just soooo excited - I feel like a 6 yo girl again!

Hi, We are going this friday through to boxing day, and it will be my youngest sons 7th birthday on xmas eve also. I have booked for a very special visitor to visit our cabin on this day as I do sometimes feel that his day sometimes gets lost in the xmas preparations. He is getting a bike and lots of other things. Needless to say anything bulky and heavy will not be going. I have just packed enough little lightweight presents for them to open in their stockings as the rest will be at home, and they only have another day to wait. They will be getting chocs, books, small playmobil items, NDS games, small puzzles, terrys choc orange (we always had a tangerine as a child) etc. Im hoping that the novelty of the snow will keep them occupied for most of the time, and that they wont feel like they have missed out. Im sure you will have a great time, once you have managed to sort everything out.

Hi we are travelling this sunday from Gatwick and staying at the same hotel for 4 days with esprit. Another person chixy wixy is also going then.
My daughter nearly 9 and son nearly 6 can%26#39;t wait!
If you go back 3 or 4 pages and look up check list - please add/help lots of ideas of what to pack. See you at the hotel.

Also, we are just taking out stockings. Santa told them in a letter other presents would be under the tree when they return. Don%26#39;t intend spending to long messing opening pressies, I want to snowball fight. Kids will be taking their ds stuff with them though, mainly for the plane.
sssoooooooo excited.

Phew ... just got back from the passport office and now have shiny new passports for the kids in my sticky hands. Thought for a while I was going to have to leave them at home O:)
Now if only the tickets would arrive I%26#39;d be sorted! The agent has said that they can sort out ticket collection at the airport if necessary so I%26#39;m not unduly worried about it (although it%26#39;s a bit of a pain). She said she hoped they would arrive though as it has the special santa paper in it. Not having any instructions at all, can anyone tell me what this is all about? We%26#39;re travelling with Esprit.
Thanks very mich

In the paper work is a letter to Parents Only. Inside is the instructions for the santa letter. Just headed esprit paper with pic of santa on it andat bottom age and name.
Any paper will do probably. Anyway get child to write wish list or whatever they want to write to santa. You do a swap and they put what they think is the letter in the postbox, you have real one. On activity day when elf asks for ticket to see santa you hand over letter pretending it is ticket, prefer not in an envelope. Letter gets passed to santa who reads it prior to kids seeing him then he talks about it with them. They are gobsmacked that he has it etc etc.
Hope this makes sense.
