Back from Levi (chalets)

Got back yesterday from what was possibly one of our best holidays.

We stayed in the Levi Chalets. The chalets are well situated close to the roundabout and a 5 minute walk from the front slopes (depending on the mood of the kids!).

The chalets were fantastic, very well finished. They have a private sauna, big log fire, dishwahser, microwave, oven, tv, video (no dvd), cd player.

We had a 4-6 birth which had a downstairs bedroom and a mezzanine (would probably not suit very young children as the steps to it are steep). There was also a sofa bed.

There were loads of logs in the outside cupboard for a roaring fire in the evenings.

We all booked into ski school (3 days, 1.5hrs per day). The kids lessons ran the same time as ours and most of the time they were close by.

When ski school finished each day, we continued to ski at kids land using the free button lifts.

If an adult is hiring ski equipment, the kids (under 7), get all of their kit free (skis, boots, helmet).

Ski equipment (skis and helmets not boots), can be left at the new Zero Point hire shop (for a fee).

The snow was great, very powdery although it did start to melt for a couple of days when the temp was +1 Deg C. It soon cooled back down though and started snowing again. The weather was quite mild (around 0 to -5 Deg C all week).

kids land is a great place to learn to ski, the children are safe there and can develop their skiing also.

We went on the Inghams Mini Husky Safari (my kids loved it). About a 1.5km husky ride plus a chat about the dogs ad then refreshments.

We also did the Aurora Santa trip. The trip was good, about an hour by snowmobile and then we met santa. He has three sleighs, each pulled by a pair of reindeer and he leads the kids around in them (2 kids per sleigh). We then went into his cottage and the kids each had a chance to read their letters and chat to him. I would have preferred more of a queue system to see him (being typically English!). A hot drink and sticky bun afterwards followed by a return snowmobile ride.

We did not manage to eat out at all!! We were all tired after the day%26#39;s skiing so had a sauna, a meal in before an early evening tobaggon!

Already thinking about next year!!

The Levi Market is reasonably priced and will stock everything you need. There is an off-license next door (Alko).

We took some boxes of wine in our luggage going out which saved some money.

Will post more when I remember

Sounds fantastic, glad you had a great time,

I have booked a private santa visit to the cabin , then theres the inghams dinner and i have also booked the Aurora trip, would you say the aurora one was magical and a must do - as i cant decide if

we are going to have santa overkill.

I havnt paid for the Aurora one yet and i know its fully booked so if you think not worth it someone else could have my spot on the 20th.

Will you return to levi or try somewhere else.

Hi Shell,

We will go back to Levi again. We visited Levi last year for a day as there was very little snow in Rovaniemi (where we were staying). We fell in love with it and booked up for this year (7 nights), it was all that we remembered and more.

One thing that concerns me slightly is the amount of new building work going on (and more is planned), I hope it does not get too big and lose it charm.

We did not go to the Inghams Christmas party as we did not want any awkward questions about Santa looking different (the party was on the same day as the Aurora trip).

The Aurora trip was good but it could have been slightly better organised. My wife summed it up ‘it lacked a woman’s touch!’. The kids loved it and the snowmobiling is fantastic.

sorry to bug you - was the snowmobiling the best bit as i we can do that on its own, the santa thats coming to the cabin is bringing his sleigh and reindeer and the kids are allowed on that - im realy confused about what to do and have been for ages - might let kelly go on it first and if she says not as good as the private one then shes the only one who has wasied he money. lol

|||

I cold send you some pics. The snowmobiling was the best bit for me (Dad!).

We snowmobiled last year but having a purpose (to see santa), made the trip more worthwhile (rather than out and back on the snowmobiles).

Santa was good and let the kids read their letters to him whilst sat on his knee. The cottage was pretty but a little crowded with everyone in. We waited until almost the end as there were fewer people in the room.

My boys njoyed the reindeer ride (only short) especially because one of the reindeers pooed!

Ask as many questions as you like - you have to get it right!!

Wine boxes were fine (two in a hard shell suitcase).

Bristol airport also had them for sale in the duty free so we took another as hand luggage (at the risk of sounding like an alcholic!!).

|||

that%26#39;s great news sik about the wine boxes at bristol airport, that will save me having to pack some, were they pricy as I only really want to get a cheap box of red, the boyfriend has no idea about good wine so the cheaper the better ;-)

The wine boxes at Bristol were about £13
