We are planning to go to yllas jan 2009...i thought hmmmm lets see about doing the independet thing and book flights and cabi ourselves,,,
OMG the cost of flights is equal to the whole thing thru ingahams i cant get over it then i cant find a flight for when we want anyway....
I have a few OCD issues which makes life dificult for my familt as i am exstremly funny ver accomodtion and thought i could pick the cabin better doing it independently ....looks like ill just have to bite the bullet and pack my flash lol

Cheaper to book a package - though it does stick in my throat a bit. lol

Hi again jo, I have also been pricing up for jan 09, so the cheapest by far is crystal, the free child places also go up to 15! which is great for me.
Salla cabins this january for 2 adults and 1 child are £489 for a week! I couldnt beleive it, I was toying with the idea of going me and the kids this jan (as other half not as keen as me) but I think he is coming round so I will wait til 09 so he can come too.

Hi j0anneManchester,
we%26#39;ve booked independantly and gone for the cheapest possible option...that means 3 flights, first one at 6:30am and we don%26#39;t think we%26#39;ll get to Saariselka until 9:00pm!!! Fortunately I%26#39;ve not clocked up very many airmiles so I find the whole travelling by plane very exciting. Even the sitting around; I see it as chance to have a nice sit, people watch and read! But you%26#39;re right, we would%26#39;ve spent significantly more had we gone for direct flights.

Just use your package operator for the flights and accomodation, then do your own thing in resort. Your choice as to whether you speak with the reps or go to the welcome meeting.You%26#39;ll be able to book your excursions thru the local tourist board depending where you are off to.
Jo, which accom did you decide to go for?
Seems mad does%26#39;nt it that some of us have%26#39;nt had this years hols and are already booking for next year or even 2009.

the accom we wanted is a traditional looing cabin but modern and newish on the inside ....at yllas
as for us being mad i have come to the conclusion were the only sane lot around who on earth would go without researching and askin questions.....guess well spot the true mad ones on the plane sitting in there hotpants and tan thru tops hehehehe

I%26#39;ve just come back from the %26#39;Lapland Lullaby%26#39; package to Salla with Canterbury Travel %26amp; couldn%26#39;t fault it. The price wasn%26#39;t cheap but we decided that it%26#39;s a once in a lifetime trip so we%26#39;d have the best we could afford. Everything was organised brilliantly and the only expenses we had when we got there were drinks with the evening meals in the hotel. All the activities were arranged and there was hardly any queues as only one coach was at a destination at any one time. It was great travelling through the forests singing carols while we searched for Santa. They also supplied suits and boots so we didn%26#39;t actually need all the layers that we%26#39;d taken with us as they were so warm - although the temperature was only just below freezing while we were there. It was also great to relax in the Spa when we got back to the hotel to chill out before dinner

Jo, with the yllas log cabins, they are beautifully traditional on the outside but each one is different on the inside, because most of them are privately owned.
We stayed last year and were fortunate to be in a really lovely area and it was spotless and quite modern inside. Musko 3.
The Kanerva Suites near the Akas are supposed to be lovely, but the exterior is far from traditional!!
Go for the Yllas cabins, and take your marigolds with you hun, at least you are honest and recognise you may be a tad fussy!!!
Good luck with your search

So Margarett8 - when are you rebooking! Most that go on a once in a lifetime (with CT, Esprit or Transun) come back and have soon rebooked a week the next season with Ingham - or now maybe Crystal!
Are you hooked? Stick with forum and you soon will be!
