What makes of ski wear are good? Im new to this and have no idea, is dare2be ok? what others are going to keep us warm, but not to expensive?

Deb

Would not worry to much on make of ski wear as just because its expensive does not make it anymore better.

We have 2 sets of ski wear and one is a cheap set and the other was more expensive and the same with the childrens ski wear.

Really its about getting your layers right underneath thats important.

Would take a look at laplandfruitbandit.com as there is some great advice on there.

I wore mittens this year for the first time and they were fab.

|||

Yes I made a note of you liking your mittens, I will get myself a pair. I was looking on the yllas webcams, how come its so blurry, the levi one is really clear

Bluny

laplandfruitbandit.com ?? Is this correct?

From having read a number of other posts I understand that you need to wear 3 or 4 layers (inlc Ski jacket) depending upon the level of cold.

A Silk base layer seems to be best (sounds nicest) albeit probably the a bit more expensive. What do you use Bluny. Also do you two of three of everything (except Jacket)?

Cheers

Hi Simon

Sorry its www.laplandfruitbandit.com hope this one is correct.

We or I always wear more layers than hubby or children do as they ski more than I do.

We always take a thermal base layer and they are a mixture of polyester and viscose and have never had a problem with them although silk does sound nicer.

I would then wear a polo top and a thermal type fleece and then my ski jacket.

I think it depends on what you are doing really as to what to wear,skiing you will need less as you are active.

On our safaris I always wrap the children and myself up to the max depending on temp on that day.We done the super reindeer a few years ago and it was minus 33 out on the lakes.

This year was warmer with it reaching -17 and that was ok.

I would invest in some silk layers as they sound by far the best option and may get some myself for this year.

I shall also get some silk glove liners for the children this year as we had problems with there gloves.

We take 2 sets of ski wear and more sets of base layers only because we have them from prev holidays.

I would imagine that 3 sets of thermals would be plenty as you can always rinse them through as they would dry quickly in the cabins.

Must be a problem with the website i think as it not responding.

I was thinking of two sets of layers for each person, do you think that this won%26#39;t be enough then?

Simon

|||

No it will be fine simon.

We only took 2 sets on our first hol.One in the wash and one to wear!

Poe tuesday set up the laplandfruitbandit site so hopefully she will be along later to check to see if I have given you the correct site.
