lapland by train???

Been reading a few postings that have mentioned travelling by train, pardon the ignorance but how did you book this and how long did it take, and which station did it leave in the uk??

Also is train much cheaper than flying?? We priced the snow train before but found flights cheaper.

Sorry loads questions, but I am intrigued.

We have never travelled by train to lapland but have often considered it as an alternative, I guess we just have not got round to it yet!

Train to Lapland from the UK??? I don%26#39;t think that it really is an option, pricewise or timewise.

However, if you get yourself in Helsinki by plane in the evening you can get a night train to Lapland and have a good night sleep in a sleeper car. Might be slighthly cheaper since you save 1 night of hotel cost both ways.

I%26#39;ve done it and it%26#39;s an option, especially if you are driving with your own car and take it with you on the train.

Ah now then you see that is the dumb blond in me, I thought they meant train the whole way from the UK which I thought was way out of the question as you say both time and price wise. Now it becomes clearer!

You can also fly into Tampere with Ryanair from Uk and travel by overnight train up to Lapland -
