I will be arriving on a Sunday afternoon at Vantaa Airport and need to go to the Radisson SAS Royal. Do you recommend the Finnair bus or city bus? I also will need to go back to the airport the next morning (Monday) for an 8:00 a.m. international flight. Which bus service and how early should I leave? Thanks in advance.

From the airport Finnair bus or bus 615 will take you to Railway Station. From there your options are a 15 minute walk, a taxi or bus 55 which will take you very close to the hotel.
Travel time Airport - Railway Station is about 35 minutes. There%26#39;s not too much diffrencies between Finnair bus and 615 so they%26#39;re both ok.

You can also take the underground from Railway Station to Kamppi. If you do that, make sure you exit at Kamppi to the side of Runeberginkatu (exit is almost next to your hotel) instead of getting in to Kamppi Shopping Mall.

At least for the trip on Monday morning I would recommend spending a little more money and take an Airport Taxi, which is kind of a shuttle service which picks you up from your hotel, but might stop to pick up other people on the way to the airport. I%26#39;m sure the hotel can help you with reservations and advice regarding how much time to reserve.

I hope the link works?
Most of the buses stop/goes to the Elielin Aukio (Eliel%26#39;s Square).
Elielin Aukio is in the center of Helsinki. It%26#39;s very easy to switch to the underground (Metro) or another buss or a train or what ever from Elielin Aukio ;)

Please be early enough at the airport not to miss your flight. There are really many flights leaving at the same time between 07:45 and 08:00 a.m. and that is why the monday morning rush hour might be very bad.
I would recommend you would be at at the airport 90 minutes prior scheduled time ie. at 06:30 a.m.
If you have Finnair flight, check in will take place in hall number 2, while SAS and Lufthansa are in hall number 3.
To avoid long lines using the self service automats is very much recommended. You need a machine readable passport or a credit card. Baggage can be left in baggage drop counter.
Business class counters are available as well counters for different card holders.

Thanks for the valuable information. However, I decided not to venture into the city and have changed my hotel to the airport Hilton to be closer for my Monday morning departure. Is there anything I can walk to near the Hilton?
|||
That%26#39;s kind of a good idea to stay the night in Hilton. It%26#39;s brand new BTW.
Sorry, but there is nothing, but the Aviation Museum within walking distance. There is a really big Shopping Mall with some other activities as well in 2-3 km away, see http://www.jumbo.fi/from_airport_to_jumbo
A good idea is to check in your hotel and then take the 615 bus to the city and come back later in the evening. You don%26#39;t necessarily miss anything sleeping in Hilton.

Thanks Polarbearfin for your help. Taking the bus into the city and returning sounds like a good idea, especially since I am coming from Chicago and 8 hours behind so I will be up for a long time.
