Santa Trip v Ski Operator for a Week

Have just returned from our second trip to Saaariselka and had a wonderful time on each trip.

In Dec 2006 we went with Esprit on their 3 night/4 day trip and have just been for a week with Inghams over New Year.

There is a lot of debate on this site about which trip is better to go on. Whilst Inghams week long trip is much better value cost wise it is quite a different experience from the Santa trips and if you want the wow magical Santa factor I would stick with the SAnta trips when the elves, Sami herder at airport, children%26#39;s food in hotel etc is laid on.

However if you are going for the Winter activities and want more free time to do your own thing then the week long with a ski company fits the bill.

We have found both trips and companies fulfilled our expectations of what we wanted to get out of them but I think if you went on the ski company one expecting a magical santa experience with young children you could be disappointed.

WE have just returned from Levi - having booked in the post trip glow of last Christmas Santa Magic to Saari (Esprit!).

I would agree that the Saari location had a lot more %26quot;mistique!%26quot; about it and the Santa part of it was much better done - it did seem more magical.

Not sure about next year yet - we are skiers and if we are going to spend this type of money it is far more tempting to do go with a company such as Esprit that offer very comprehensive childcare that allow both parents to get 6 full days skiing (ski to door!)- (as well as an evening%26#39;s babysitting) - they even supervise kids tea - while you shower/ recover from the days skiing!

By comparison our 2 hours skiing in Levi was expensive and very hard work! (Ski rental @ zero point definitely needs work!)

Choices choices - decisions decision!!??
