With D-Day fast approaching (5 and counting!) I%26#39;m beginning to panic about whether taking a back-carrier for our 17 month old daughter is actually as good an idea as I%26#39;d originally thought. So for those with similar aged little ones - did you take a pushchair/stroller and were you able to use it in Yllas?
From what I recall, paths etc. were quite compacted and so wouldn%26#39;t really cause too much problem. I%26#39;m also thinking about practicalities in the airport - we%26#39;ll have an early start and I think she%26#39;s more likely to sleep (and safer) if she%26#39;s in a pushchair rather than running about for 2 or more hours.
Thank you.

you will be fine with your buggy, the paths are very compacted and there were loads of people there with their children in prams/buggies - I think you are best suited to take one over a back carrier
If you have one with a rain cover then take it, this will keep the wind off her

Fab question i have been wondering the same....like you say the bonus of having somewhere to nap anytime your out as well/ airport/ restraunts etc
have a great holiday

Thank you for the advice. With the restrictions on hand baggage still in place in Bristol, I was beginning to worry about how Mr M would manage with a rucksack and back-carrier. All I need to do now is go and buy one - our current pushchair is rather big and heavy and I don%26#39;t want to risk damaging it in transit but I%26#39;d been planning on getting a smaller one anyway, I%26#39;ll just be doing it a bit sooner.

shame you didnt mention it earlier i have a travel one that folds into a backpack you could have used.

The only thing to consider is getting one with bigger wheels, if there is a lot of snow you may struggle with small wheels.

Shell - thank you for the offer. I need to get a new, smaller one anyway as the one we%26#39;ve been using since birth takes up the whole of my car boot so I%26#39;ve been looking for something a little more %26#39;compact%26#39;. Good tip about the larger wheels - hopefully we%26#39;ll be able to take her around on a sledge too (and walking if her boots stay on!) so we should be able to go %26#39;off-path%26#39; at some point.

We often ,when in Levi, saw several women wheeling around prams at the bottom of the main piste and around the sledging area,it made us laugh but seemed a very normal thing to do...!

Yes I was one of those very women!!!
My main piece of advice to anyone with a toddler is to take a buggy!
Last year we had 3 days in Saariselka with a borrowed back pack (thought it would be easier!) for our 16 mth old - nightmare. My husband was like a snail with a home on his back! -He couldn%26#39;t sledge with our boys - or pklay in the snow - even if our daughter was asleep.
We spoke to a family who took a back pack this year for their 17 mth old and they managed to hire a buggy on day 1. Quite a robust large wheeled thing with a good hood, thick padded sleeping bag type thing and a large basket underneath.
Also you don%26#39;t really want a toddler on the loose in the airport!
Last week in was quite icy and compacted so it was OK to push the buggy - gets a bit tougher going after fresh snow!
The one down side of having the buggy was having to wait an extra 20 minutes for it at baggage reclaim - at 12.30 in the morning! Was tempted to leave it - as son had to be in school next day!

Thank you everybody - I%26#39;ve been to Mothercare this afternoon and bought a basic, lighweight one. At least she%26#39;ll be safe at the airport!
