Husky Trips, etc in Yllas

Hi there,

Is it better to book husky trips, etc in advance or is it better value to book in the resort? We are thinking of travelling end of Jan 09 and are unsure if we should book before we go.

Also, who are the best value? Inghams seem to be the best value for money but can you book with them in resort, if you have travelled with another company?

Advice would be appreciated! thanks

yes, you can book your trips with inghams when you get there with the reps even if you have not travelled with them, this is what a rep said, however, there are no assurances of this as it may not be part of their rules, but at the end of the day, the reps get more money the more trips they sell so I am sure they do not care who they sell to, as long as they sell

Thanks Poe.

Would you book with Inghams (if poss) over one of the local companies like Arctic Safaris?

Or are Inghams the best for value?

thanks

inghams are by far the cheapest for the husky and reindeer trips, but things like snowmobil hire is cheaper with local companies

Hi

We used different companies for different things, and they do vary so it depends what you want, and whether you have young children or not.

There should be plenty of availability at the end of January because it will be quieter. Most of the

local companies are next door to each other so it is a case of just popping in and saying what you want to do.

We booked the husky sledding in advance because we wanted the 25km trip and that was hard to find over Christmas. We booked that through Destination Lapland but were disappointed because there were so many people, it wasn%26#39;t very personal. There was alot of stopping and starting and a few problems because there were not enough guides for the number of people.

Snow Fun Safaris were very good, helpful and the cheapest, we booked 2 snowmobile trips with them when we got there, and one was just our family (6), another with one other couple.

Scandanavian Adventures were fantastic - more expensive but we did an ice fishing trip by snowmobile which lasted 6 hours (longer than they quoted). It was a real experience, going to a deserted lake with 2 guides, one a hunter full of interesting tales. We then grilled sausages over the open fire (sadly no fish!). When my 9 yr old got bored of fishing the guide took him off to show him moose and reindeer tracks and let him try snowshoeing.

We did the reindeer safari with Inghams (we went independently) and it was a good trip, also much cheaper than booking locally. We went into Akas Hotel and found a rep, who booked us on.

Hope this helps.

Hi everyone,

Hi. Just got back from Yllas and Husky Trip by coach cost 808 Euros for 6 people (had two 3 year olds who were free) with Arctic Safaries. Thought this was expensive but worth it for the experience. As Husky Farm is in Yllas, later in week got a taxi there for 20 Euros and had 10K ride for 240 Euros for all of us. Much cheaper and better because it was a smaller group. You live and learn.
