...and what a truly magical place Lapland is.
As this forum was invaluable to us whilst planning our trip I thought I would note what trips we did etc. and give a bit of info.
The log cabin was small but clean, very warm and in the middle of a beautiful forest, around a 800m walk downhill to the Akas Hotel where Inghams Reps are and the trips run from.
We have a 6 1/2 and a 4 1/2 year old and did the Super Husky and Super Reindeer with Inghams which were good value for money and fantastic trips and suitable for their age.
We opted out of Santapark due to reading bad reviews before we went and having spoken to a few people that did do it they were extremely disappointed and it was their biggest letdown!
We did the Aurora Safari Snowmobile Search for Santa (on recommendation) which was from Levi and although expensive, it was amazing. The trip was great for dads and moms as they are on snowmobiles (children are pulled in an enclosed sleigh behind) but the setting for Santa is a clearing in the forest and he was waiting at a wooden house with smoke coming from the chimney and his reindeer and sleigh are outside too. It was not at all commercialised but just how you want your children to remember Santa in Lapland. Aurora picked us up from Yllas (at a cost) and they then asked us if we wanted a few hours round Levi after the trip before they took us back to Yllas which we opted for. It was nice to see another resort and it was therefore a full day out.
As already mentioned on this forum, good restaurants in Yllas are Jullis and the Poro Restaurant at Lapp Village.
Inghams Reps were not great (but we knew that before we went), apart from Bev and as already mentioned on this forum if you have younger children grab yourself a sledge so you can pull them around. Supermarket in Yllas is well stocked.
Yllas and Lapland are beautiful and truly magical - I could have cried all week from emotion and we just did not want to come back!!!!

The children were gobsmacked when they saw Santa - our eldest could not believe it and our youngest was just excited. It was lovely. There were about 10 other groups with us which was a lot and Aurora did say that the Friday had been their busiest dayall week. They had had no other bookings for the Mon/Tues/Wed or on the Sat, so I think you might find there are not too many of you on your day.
My only comment would be that Aurora do not get the children excited about finding Santa. However this did not spoil the trip at all and like us you will probably get them excited yourselves anyway, it would just have been nice for them to have played a little part in it.
You do all stay together for the reindeer ride and go into his house together. But it is not at all rushed and Santa has plenty of time with them - it is all quite calm. Everyone else seemed to respect each others space. We took video and photos and our girls had already sent their letters to Santa a couple of weeks ago. However when we got to his house we handed them back to them and told them that the elves at Santa%26#39;s Post Office had given them to us to pass on to Santa. They could not believe it and Santa read them out with them - their faces were amazing.
Would I go back - it is by far the best family holiday we have been on and we have done Disney so yes we would. When we booked the trip we thought it would be a one-off holiday of a lifetime and we are already talking about going again, just like everyone else on this forum who has the bug!!
Yllas was quiet and beautiful and from what we saw of Levi it looked great too and there seemed more shops/restaurants and more of a central area. We loved the peacefulness of Yllas and would go back there again but maybe book the flight and accommodation ourselves seperatly.
Hope this helps.

We arrived to -15 and then the week got warmer ranging to +1 last Friday which was too warm and some snow got a bit slushy. On Saturday though it went colder and snowed all day which was great. When we left yesterday it was -7.
We took silk glove liners and hand and foot warmers and did not need to use them but I would imagine it is did get colder then would have been useful.
The children had good thinsulate gloves and balaclavas and we all wore our thermals, top, fleece, ski jackets and salopettes and we were as warm as toast, with no complaints from the kids.
We also took goggles for the children which they did use, not every day but on the days it snowed and when they had ski-ing lessons it was snowing and the goggles stopped snow getting into their eyes, so I would recommend them.

cheers, thanks for the info and it has just reminded me to pack the hand warmers ;-)
