First of all, I want to say thanks to the people who replied to my posts asking for advice.
We travelled to Rovaniemi on a day trip yesterday, 9th December out of Newcastle. We checked in nice and early at Newcastle (4am) and were greeted by the Lapland team and got our santa hats.
The plane ride was good, they got everyone singing Christmas songs at 37,000 feet and the children get to enter a drawing competition that is judged by the Captain and prizes given out on the way home.
Anyway, we landed and went to the coaches, passing a very tall snowman. The coaches took up to Rovaniemi to get suited and booted. I would advise you to wear warm clothes, but you don%26#39;t need to take loads of outer warm gear, like thick coats as you get a very warm snow suit and mittens if you need them. You need to get boots a size smaller than your normal size, but they tell you all this anyway.
So we got on back on a coach, this is the one you stay on for the rest of the day, so you can leave all your belongings on there, we were on the %26quot;fairy bus!!!%26quot;.
So the adventure starts. After a 10 minute journey we were there. The five activities that we did were
Husky Ride - once round track
Reindeer Sleigh Ride - once round
Visit to see Santa and hot berry juice / biscuit
Sledging down hills
Visit + story from traditional lappish person.
After this we walked back to the bus and went for some lunch about 10 minutes away.
Then we went to Santa%26#39;s village where we got to spend 2 hrs browsing the shops, there were also reindeers there and a playpark for the children.
Back on the bus and got our certificates for %26quot;crossing the arctic circle%26quot;
Back on the plane and home, very tired but very happy.
It is a very long and busy day but well well worth it. We loved it, so much fun. There were lots of adults without children as well as plenty with.
If you have any questions just let me know and I will do my best to answer them.
Have fun if you have booked, we want to go back but for longer this time......

I forgot to say there was tonnes of snow!!!! It snowed loads while we were there as well which was really good and added to the day. There isn%26#39;t much snow in the city but don%26#39;t panic.

Thanks so much for taking trouble to post report so quickly, can%26#39;t wait for Saturday now.
What was your lunch like?
Do you get chance/need to take any more husky/reindeer rides than the ones included in the trip?
Great to hear about the snow, a light snowfall is forcast for this saturday when we are there.
