Hi
Has anyone been or is going to this hotel and if so any tips. Have read other reviews, I like the tip on the disposable camera. We are taking our children aged 8 and 5.
Thanks

Hi there
We went to the hotel over Christmas 2005 with Esprit and our children were 5 and 11. My one tip would be to pack some snacky food in your luggage - crisps, biscuits bits that your kids would enjoy. The reason for this being you fly out very early in the morning (we flew excel and the breakfast was awful but the return Christmas dinner was great) you will get to your hotel after collecting all your winter gear around 2.00ish and the local supermarket closed early as it was Christmas Eve and the hotel did not provide food until 7.30pm so my children (and us) were starving.
As this was two years ago and a number of complaints were put in it may well have changed but just as a warning.
The hotel is great - clean and don%26#39;t forget your swimming costume as there is a fantastic pool there. Oh another thought - when you get changed into your %26quot;michelin man outfits%26quot; only do them up to your waist and then do them up fully once you have reached reception as they are v.v. warm. Sunglasses for the toboggan run might be a good idea too. Its fine if you just come down the slope that you can see but if you walk to the top and then around the corner to the next slope you will come down at a fantastic speed and the snow and ice can fly up in your face. (you will know exactly what I mean when you see the slope it is brilliant).
Wishing you a wonderful and magical Christmas.

Hello Fayerfield
We stayed at the holiday club last Dec with two daughters aged 11 and 16 and had a fantastic time.
We were in one of the hotel rooms rather than one of their log cabins. We found the room , which is similar to a Travelodge type to be very clean and well equipped including a fridge which was useful to keep bottled water and a few chocolate goodies cool. Inside the hotel it is very warm, you will only need light clothing there. We also found it more convenient than being in a cabin and having to dress up in all the thermal gear to go for meals or a swim.
In the ensuite bathroom is a very efficient drying cupboard for drying off mittens, socks or even swimwear. We were in a rom that overlooked the large inner courtyard where the trees were floodlit and and various snowmen had been constructed, fantastic view to wake up to and watch even more snow falling. There were outside doors direct to the courtyard and out to the front of the hotel situated in a couple of places along the corridor so you didn%26#39;t have to walk all the way round to reception to get out!
We enjoyed the pool and sauna area which are very clean although the water is very cool compared to Uk indoor pools.
The buffet style breakfast and evening meal have plenty of choice so should be able to find something for everyone%26#39;s tastes and it is plentiful, you can go back for more! There are always salads, pates, cold meats, bread etc as well as soup, meat, fish and vegetables plus children orintated sausages, chicken nuggets and chips. At breakfast there are fruit, cereals, bacon, egg etc, plus cold meat and cheese continental style and a pancake making machine with jugs of batter to make your own!
The evening buffet started at 4.30 and ran to 8pm so although we didn%26#39;t have to wait as long as the previous post we were still hungry after the very early start to the arrivals day so snacks in your luggage are a good idea. The supermarket is a few minutes walk away and is a treasure trove for gifts and souvenirs as well as food! It is usually open until 9pm but we were not there actually over Christmas when opening would be more limited.
The hotel is well situated for all activities with every thing just a few minutes walk away, the toboggan run is a must and free plastic toboggans are lying around all over the village, just help yourself to them and leave them when you have finished for the next person! Your children will enjoy just being pulled around the village or bringing the groceries back from the supermarket in one!
Make sure you have a peep in the church, the end wall is glass and looks out over the snow covered fir trees which are flood lit in the evening, the view takes your breath away. There is a small shopping centre with high quality gift shops and several tour excursion companies if you haven%26#39;t pre booked trips.
We walked down some of the quiet residential roads in the evening, lovely to see the traditional but luxurious log cabin type of houses surrounded by deep snow and as there is minimal street lighting a good view of the northern lights if you are lucky as we were.. The toboggan and ski runs and cross country ski routes are floodlit until 10pm so the early darkness does not stop the fun!
The hotel has a bar and disco well away from the sleeping quarters but we did not use these facilities as wanted to make the most of the snow.
The only downside is that the reception area does get chaotic with luggage and people when a coachful arrive or depart.
We all loved it so much that we are returning to Saariselka and the Holiday club for a week over New Year this Dec/Jan which I think speaks for itself. You will have a great time, enjoy!

Thanks for all your info, hope everyone has a great time. I am getting so excited, just reading these notes gets me going. Should be cleaning the house but can%26#39;t stop peeking on the different sites.
