Hi
Just wondering if any-one has used the Kumpare for Children in Ruka, and if so how good is it for 4 %26amp;5 year olds? and is it far from the slopes??
Or has any-one tried the ruka kids ski school?
Thanks

Didn%26#39;t use the childcare centre but my 2 six year olds did ski school. They really enjoyed it, and teachers seemed very good.
We pre-booked lessons through Inghams and although we thought they%26#39;d be every day at 10 or 11, ours were allocated for 2pm. Last for just under 2 hours. I think lessons start from age 5.
The ski school is 10 min bus ride from Ruka (vuosseli)which runs every hour - so if you had one child in Kumpare, you%26#39;d need to time it with the hourly bus journey in order to get to lessons at Vuosseli. Although the Ruka-side slopes are right outside Kumpare, that%26#39;s not where ski school is.

thanks for that info
I have spoken with the ski school and as my 4 year old can already ski they would be willing to have him in lessons. Unfortunately though the kids lessons do not tie in time wise with the adult ones = nightmare.
I think the result will be hubby gets lessons and ilook after the kids as i can already ski.
Might try the childcare so we can get a couple hours ski-ing ourselves though (think the boys would be pretty miserable if out ski-ing all day)

Hi Sanaq, we are heading out in March and we too have been in touch with the ski school, as our Kids are %26quot;second timers%26quot; the meeting point for ski school is in the main village by the 4 person chair lift - (no busing required)have you thought of doing private lessons ? more expensive I know, but we have booked the kids in for lessons on the Monday,Wednesday and Friday and each one lasts for two hours, this might give you time to get a little bit of skiing in for yourself.

our kids have been having private lessons here in the UK for the last 3 months, so it is a consideration for us.
I know it is a lot more expensive but the one to one is good.
Its more the problem of fitting them in around our lessons really, we booked our lessons with crystal so do not yet know our allocated slot until we get there but it may be an option to get the kids in at the same time as us.
Was really hoping to get a bit of free ski time to ourselves as well out there.
When are you over??
We go the 23 March and are staying in the Holiday Club

We are going the week before you, ie 16th March and staying in the Ruka Suites.
I agree with you on the Private lessons, the one to one tuition is great. The ski school seem to be completely flexible and said that they will be in touch 2/3 days before we travel to confirm the times that suit us, we also asked that if the kids wanted to do more lessons when we are there (other than the 3 we have booked), is that possible and they said %26quot;No Problem%26quot;, as if there is more demand they can bring in extra teachers. I have to say the Ski School has been a pleasure to deal with.

enjoy your holiday.
