Forgot to mention on my review of holiday to Saariselka that on the organised snowmobile trip (guide plus six snowmobiles) we were stopped by police on their police snowmobiles, complete with blue flashing lights for an alcohol check! I assumed that it was just the guide who was to be breathalysed but no, the whole group were, very surreal as I have never undergone the experience in a car! The guide said it was the first check he had had this season but it is quite a regular occurance. Just a timely warning for those out drinking in the evening before doing a trip the following morning! With EU rules any infringement would mean points/ban on your UK driving licence. Also worth remembering that you should only be driving a snowmobile if you have a full driving license, the hire places don%26#39;t seem to check even though it is mentioned in the small print. The police also have radar traps along snowmobile routes and fine those who exceed the speed limit of 60kph. You have been warned!!

Yes, that may occur. The limit is 0,5, so two beers won%26#39;t do harm ;)
I%26#39;m pretty confident that driving a snowmobile requires a tractor license on a public road and just 15 years of age in the terrain.

We saw this happening one morning in Levi, v close to the Immelmokit cabins - looked very weird!

Yes I was breathalysed after our accident on the ice lake, luckily I registered 0.00

We have just returned from Levi and yes they had been breathalizing snowmobillers near our cabins.....we went on a trip but the had gone by the time we arrived. Nice to see they are doing it though....could do with that more in the UK..
