snow mobile, huskie trips etc....how much

Can anyone please tell me the cost of snow mobile, huskie rides etc for adults and children, thanks.

|||

arcticsafaris.com or snowfun safaris website have all the prices.

|||

have a look on www.levi.fi they have links on their to various companies and the prices of the trips,

KELLY.

|||

contact arctic safari%26#39;s

destination lapland

first choice travel for prices.

|||

Hi Samandmeg.

One thing for sure, particulary with the snowmobiles, it will be much cheaper and enjoyable if you do it yourselves rather than go on a organised excursion.

The fact is if you hire a machine you only pay per machine, which takes two, if you do an excursion you pay per person, you should go on the snowmobiles they are brilliant and easy to drive, plus on your own you can go where you want and at your own pace, you will see some stunning sights and have the time of your lives.

Trev.

|||

hey dependant on who your on holiday with certain companies are chepaer than others!!!

arctic safaris are the best, most reliable and safest option however, they are a sister company of first choice so if your on holiday with fc in an fc hotel its generally cheaper and you have more options when to go!!

Help chicken pox advice and travel

hi we%26#39;re all supposed to be flying out to Levi on sunday, but yesterday my little girl developed chicken pox.

i%26#39;m so utterly gutted, i%26#39;ve spoken to nhs direct, my doctor, the airline, and basically most have told me she might just be fine to travel on sunday, but i would need a fit to fly, but my doctor has told me she%26#39;s contagious for upto 16 days after the first spot not 5-7 as everyone else seems to think..so won%26#39;t be giving me a fit to fly letter..

:o(

does it look totally doomed, or does anyone think i might still have a small chance

thanks

Shelly

|||

sorry to bear the bearer of bad news but that happened to my sister coming home one year her little boy got a spot 3 days before they went home and when they got to the airport they refused to let them fly her hubby went home with 5 of the kids and she had to stay in resort shut in her room for another 2 weeks. Oh i am so sorry for you, what a disaster,

|||

Hi Shelly,

SO sorry to hear your news. If you go to your doctor they can give you medication to stop it getting any worse. My son health means he must not get any thing like chicken pox and we keep the medication here all the time just in case. The medication is called Zovirax. It might just be a way around still going but you need to be quick because there is a strict time scale. Good luck.

|||

Unfortunately zovirax can only treat chickenpox in the first 24 hours.

|||

who did you book through?

|||

booked thru inghams

|||

I knew the time was strict, sorry it can%26#39;t help.

|||

worst case can they not change your dates?

|||

Can%26#39;t you try and change it to a later date??????they still have availability for levi.

|||

Bluny,

Talk about good minds think alike, very scary thinking the same as you and joan now.

|||

Its getting very spooky!!I just thought about writing the same.

Roll Call 23rd December to Yllas

Let%26#39;s find out exactly WHO is going to be in Yllas for the week over xmas.

Someone may want to start the thread for Levi?

We are going 2 adults and 2 children (age 9%26amp;7)

Just be interesting to see how many Brits are descending on the little Finnish village.

|||

Hi bluebell, We are a family of 2 adults %26amp; 2 children, boys aged 10 and 7 on xmas eve. We are flying out on the 21st and returning on the 26th. We have booked independently and are stopping at a log cabin in Akaslompolo.

|||

Sorry, but i thought poe.tuesday had allready done this thread in this forum.

Kelly.

|||

hi kelly6,

yes poe has done a general thread from what I remember, and includes xmas and new year ...... just curious about who is going to Yllas (not any other place).

Am not usually one to repeat what others have done !!!!

|||

hi,

just thought i%26#39;d point it out to you, thought maybe thats why you hav%26#39;nt had much response think poe got about 165 so there will be a few of you there i guess.

kelly.

|||

Hi me too!

1 adult and my 7 yr old to Akas Hotel for a week from 23rd.

I%26#39;ve had replies from Beanies preston as well, we%26#39;re the crystal virgins!... its their first time in Yllas this year. So I guess a few from my gatwick flight on the 23rd too.

Lets see who else signs up!

See you there:-)

Debbie.

|||

we will be there too, me, boyfriend, daughter (who is 10 today ;-) and son who is 7, looks like there will be plenty of children around the same age which is nice, especially is there is only one child in a family, means they have other children to play with

so how are we going to know who each other is, red rose (or red nose) maybe?

everyone will know who we are, we are the family that most people dread ;-)

|||

I wondered when you would add to the list poe !!! Why are you the family to dread then ??? I don%26#39;t believe you.

Just to let you know the countdown is ..... 60 days to go

|||

you will know exactly what I mean when you see us, it will all make sence

|||

poe

I have heard you say that before on this forum, please let me know why!!I have all kind of thoughts about the family everyone dreads!!Im going to miss out!!

|||

ho ho ho

Possible Strikes At UK Airports from27th. Dec.

Anyone else see in the newspapers today(Sat 1st) about threatened strikes at UK airports starting on 27 th Dec. by baggage controllers, firemen, security etc...

Just in time to disrupt new year flights . I do hope not, on top of all the flight schedules and airport changes already inflicted by Inghams!

Wouldn%26#39;t worry so much if we were not running to such a tight schedule now when returning home!

|||

Hi there I woke up the other day to a radio report about it but was half asleep. so posted asking if anyone knew anything. If you look back on the last couple of days posts Poe has put the details on the thread. Were coming back on the 1st, or maybe not!

|||

I%26#39;m worried about it as we are flying out of gatwick on the 30th for a week, so there may be a spare cabin in yllas if you get stuck there. I really hope not....

|||

Thanks laplandbound for the offer but we too fly out of Gatwick on 30th at 8 am. Maybe on the same flight? We are going on to Saariselka.

|||

Hi earthtraveller,

I share the misery of the unknown strike situation. We are flying out of Gatwick at 12.40 on the 30th Dec to Kittila on Monarch booked with skiflights.com. (It says Inghams on the flight confirmation.) So we are not on same flight but may get same problems.

Is anyone else on the same flight? How long might the strike last for? Any advice/

|||

Hi Laplandbound.

Tickets came this morning (hehe!) and we are on the same flight as yourselves!

We still have a couple of weeks yet and I won%26#39;t start to panic until the week before - like the snow situation - there is nothing that we can do but keep our fingers crossed.

If we have a delay - we have a week to get over it!

However I know I will be the one actually stressing and giving out in the dep lounge on the day if it happens!

Plenty of colouring books and snacks - might even be pursuaded to invest in PSPs for kids as desparate least resort!

Cross fingers!

|||

Smiley sid Our tickets came too! See you there.

Sticker books very useful too for long waits. How are you transferring from airport - it being a sunday night?

As log as its only delays and not cancellations.

What age the kids?

|||

Laplandbound, Smileysid

We%26#39;re on the same flight as you guys - must arrange to wear daffodils or something for recognition!!!

|||

Laplandbound

Confused about your question about tranferring from airport! At which end of the trip did you mean? Am I missing something here(panic!).

Hoping that transfers in Lapland will be sorted by Inghams!? - we will just follow the crowd!

Or if you mean about coming back to UK - we will be driving home. WE park at LGW - we are only 45mins away.

Haven;t really thought about it too much - but now starting to panic abit - wish I had bought the bargain priced handwarmers from Tchibo when they were around (gone now!) and also should have bought one of thes neckwarmer things - got one from last year 1 but another would be handy.

Need to get kids thermals so will probably be trawling through all old posts for the threads on that!

I think that it will have to be poinsettia or something - not many daffs around at the mo!

Can%26#39;t wait now!

another skiiing question..........

ok so i%26#39;ve never really been skiiing before except on a dry ski slope........ i%26#39;ve been looking at the levi site and seen you pay for the ski lift and equipment, but is there also a charge just to ski? Obviously we will only be on the begginner slope, but do we have to have instruction or can we just go and try to break our legs on our own?

|||

Samandmeg,

As far as i know you can break your legs all on your own lol, there is little beginners slopes in kidland which are free to use as is everything else in there,i have also done dry skiing and the instructer told me that is harder to do than on actual snow.

We will see next week.lol

Kelly.

|||

Do you think you u can wear the outdoor clothes they give you when you arrive to go skiing in?

|||

yes of course you can, so everyone says the clothes you get kitted out in are very good, I was going to hire mine but decided to buy them as we are going again next year. But i have still hired boots as spares or incase ours are not warm enough.

Kelly.

|||

Reply from Santa Letter

Help!!

I have had requests from my bother %26amp; sister for my nephew and niece and work mates to take letters for santa (6 letters). They have asked that if they write a reply to the letters would I post them in Lapland so the kids will see the postmark etc ...

We go Sunday 16th,

Do you think the letter will get back to UK if I post on Sunday?

Can you buy any authentic envelopes to put the responses in?

Any suggestions so the kids aren%26#39;t disappointed

Thanks

Deb

|||

I have a red Stamp thats says

North Pole 25th December and a pic of santa holiding a letter - i could stamp you some envelopes if you want.

Shell

|||

Thank you that would be brill. What a Star

Silly question but how do i get my address to you??

|||

send her a pm.

|||

If you post them from Lapland then I%26#39;m sure they will get to the UK in time for christmas. I know frist choice offred to send letters from Santa to the Uk for 5 Euros.

|||

debzz09,

I can either send you Plain white envelopes stamped up i thik all i have are A5 size, or if you have any special ones you can send them to me - you will have to be quick as i go away to Levi on Sunday for 2 weeks.

Half Board K5 Hotel ????????????

Hi

Does anyone out there know if the dining tables are allocated to individual families or is it just pot luck?

We are staying in the K5 chalets with meals at the hotel. There are seven of us, me , hubby %26amp; 5 kids %26amp; obviously would prefer if we could sit together at dinner times. :)

Went to suomu arctic circle hotel last year %26amp; seating was allocated, which was fab for us.

Thank you for any replies

Tracey

|||

Hi Tracey, we stayed in the hotel last year and no, tables are not allocated, we tried many a different table during our stay, and there are large tables to sit at too ... really enjoyed the food excellent choice.... have fun

Anita

|||

Hi Tracey

Its a first come first served method, but the hotel has a section for half board guests and a seperate restaurant for a la carte and we have been many times to the K5 and its never been so busy stopping you from having a whole table to yourselves. When do you go? You will love the Chalets! and as stated above, the food and service is the best in Levi, you%26#39;ll love it!

Cath

|||

We%26#39;ve just upgraded to half board (staying in a cabin) having originally booked s/c. How will the hotel know that we are guests? I know this sounds a strange question but I remember reading on here about how you could walk into this hotel for dinner and no-one would know if you were a guest or not!!

|||

Hi going to the K5 chalets on 22 Dec, was thinking about food arrangements myself. When are you going to be there?

|||

Hi Hectic, we fly out on the 3oth Dec for a week. Will you still be there then?

|||

Hi all

Thanks for your replies.

We will be there on the 6th jan for one week.

Haven%26#39;t heard from anyone else going that week...maybe we will have the whole place to ourselves. :)

Tracey

|||

Hi Katet

Sorry no we fly back on the 29th. Hope you have a brilliant time. Getting very excited now.
