New Year's Eve in Tampere

Hi there,

A group of us are planning to go to Tampere for New Years Eve. We were wondering if there will be fireworks for the festivities?

Where is the best pub/club to celebrate the new year? (we%26#39;re all in our mid 20%26#39;s, so will be looking for a party!)

Also, will everywhere be closed on New Year%26#39;s day?

Any information is much appreciated.

Hi!

Normally there isn%26#39;t public fireworks in Tampere on New Year%26#39;s Eve. But people buy _a lot_ of their own ones so the air is full of rockets anyway (except that in the most central area they are forbidden).

There are many nice pubs in the center, you can just walk around and see which one looks good.

From the night clubs I could propose you Ilves, Cabaret and Onnela. I can imagine that any of them will be more than crowded!

If you stay at hotel Ilves (recommended!), Ilves night club will be very convinient choice for you in the same building, you just need to find the lift to get to sleep. :)

On New Year%26#39;s day all shops and other places are closed. Some open restaurants you surely will find. At that time perhaps a relaxing bath at Lapinniemi Spa might be a nice choice for you.

Our small group is also going to spend New Year Eve and few days then in Tampere.

For New Year Eve we preliminary reserved tables in

But recently I’ve heard pretty negative comments concerning Hameensilta, at least for such events.

Unfortunately they didn’t answer by emails, so probably could you comment a little:

- how big is that restaurant?

- do they have a la carte or buffet in that night?

- what kind of music plays there?

Hello!

Hameensilta is a restaurant that is by the local considered as a dancing restaurant for older (50-60%26#39;s) people. So if you are younger people or looking for a good dining place I am afraid it%26#39;s not the best choice for you.

Perhaps Ilves Night Club might be a good choice for you. At the same hotel complex there are also nice mid-price restaurants, e.g. Fransmanni.
